Precision Fibre Cleaver
20.040.1830

For professional cutting of optical fibre a cleaver is required to provide perpendicular cuts. Furthermore the surface quality of the cut fibre must be perfect especially when fibres are spliced.

Buffer Cladding Stripper (Miller Pliers)
20.040.1838

Before optical fibres are treated like cutting splicing etc. the protective plastic coating needs to be removed. This is done by the so called Miller Pliers.

Fibre Connector Polishing Machine for ST Connectors
20.040.1852

This unit is recommended for reliable and reproducible polishing results. Two connectors can be polished simultaneously and the polishing time can be set for optimum results. The lapping film is simply attached to the rotating polishing pad. The movement of the polishing arm guarantees scratch free and homogeneous polished surfaces.

Fibre Splice Box
20.040.1890

To connect the entire group of cameras to the main control room a multi core optical cable is used. To avoid additional fibre connectors the single fibres of the cameras are spliced to the main cable. For protecting the splices a so called Fibre Splice Box (FSB) is used, which has an input for the multi core cable as well as 8 input grommets for the single fibre cables coming from the camera group. The splice box is usually attached against a wall located in the centre of the camera group.

Hot Melt Fibre Connector

Beside other technologies to fix an optical fibre to a connector, the hot melt technique is commonly used. The ferrule as well as the connector body is filled with hot melt cement. After heating up the connector the prepared fibre is introduced and after cooling down the connection is done. In subsequent steps the over standing fibre is removed and the connector polished. The required tools for this procedure are contained in the fibre optic termination kit 20.040.1870. The ST hot melt fibre connectors are available with red or black plastic jackets.
