Photonic Surveillance and Bios-Metrical Access Control System
for site and perimeter protection

The MEOS Photonic Surveillance System PSS-20-04 makes comprehensive use of photonic related components resulting in a unique system providing the highest degree of security as well as performance. One of the basic ideas of the system is the use of optical fibres instead of copper video cables to transfer the video and data signals over long distances without intermediate amplifier to the main control room.

Threefold security is achieved by using three different detection systems:

Three Step Photonic Surveillance System

Day & Night Motion Detection
Day & Night Video Cameras with automatic Motion Detection and Active Night Vision form the first step of the security barrier.

Infrared Motion Detection
The second barrier is created by Passive Infrared Detectors (PIRD) which are sensitive to thermal radiation emitted by living bodies or by vehicles.

Laser Light Barrier
A tight perimeter protection is established by Laser Light Barrier (LLB) using encoded invisible light forming the third security barrier.

Control System

The video signal of the cameras as well as the data of the alarming bus are transferred by optical glass fibres to the main control centre which is equipped with high-end computer systems providing automated intrusion and video based motion detection. All fibre lines terminate at the central rack which also contains the video and alarm processing unit. The scenes of the cameras are displayed on wall mounted monitors.
The synoptical panel provides an overview of the area under surveillance and the position of the cameras and sensors.

Bio - Metrical Access Control

Users are provided with an identification card on which personal information such as name, ID number, address, birth date, mathematical fingerprint references (minutiae), an electronic signature, the Enrolment Officer’s name and ID number will be stored. Since all access data are available security investigations going back in history may give evidences for suspicious behaviour of a particular person.
Besides security aspects the Access Control System provides also data for presence control and reporting.
